2014 CANR Awards

The Canadian Association for Nursing Research has established four awards to recognize nurses for their outstanding contribution to nursing and the goals of CANR . The CANR research awards are awarded biennially. The next awards presentation will occur in 2014. Deadline for receipt of nomination materials is January 13, 2014 .

The CANR Nurse Researcher Award is for an established nurse scientist who has contributed significantly to nursing research.

The CANR Outstanding New Investigator Award is for an outstanding new researcher.

The CANR Award for the Promotion of Research Based Practice is made to an individual or group who has provided leadership in the utilization of research in clinical nursing practice.

The CANR Practitioner-Researcher Award is for a clinician or manager engaged in research in a clinical setting.

    SYNOPSIS:  The Barbara Bates Center for the Study of the History of Nursing is offering an award of up to $3,000 to faculty from all disciplines from colleges and universities, to support historical research in nursing. Selection of faculty scholars will be based on evidence of preparation and/or productivity in historical research and/or teaching related to nursing. It is expected that the research and new materials produced by Buhler-Wilkerson scholars will help ensure the growth of scholarly work focused on the history of nursing.
    Recipients will participate in Center activities and will present their research at a Center seminar.

    SYNOPSIS:  The Marlene Reimer Research Award was established to promote neuroscience nursing research in line with the mission and vision of CANN. This award provides financial support to qualified nurses to pursue a research project focusing directly on neuroscience patient care issues relevant to the scope of nursing practice in Canada. Amount awarded is determined yearly. The award may be awarded to one or more individuals depending on available funds.

  3. Emerging Researcher Fellowships available at the Universite de Montreal Public Health Research Institute (IRSPUM)
    The Université de Montréal Public Health Research Institute (IRSPUM) is offering two emerging researcher fellowships (for researchers who are Canadian citizens or have a permanent resident status in Canada). Of a maximum duration of two years, these fellowships aim to support researchers at the beginning of their academic career with the development of a research program in one of the IRSPUM’s research areas (see the IRSPUM website for more details ). The fellowships also enable them to establish their competitiveness in order to obtain a research scholarship from a national granting agency.
    For the duration of the fellowship, the IRSPUM emerging researcher will be granted an academic affiliation in a department or faculty at the Université de Montréal and will benefit from the same conditions and salary as that of an assistant professor.
    The application deadline is November 15th2013.
